2019 Running Day Review Our “Running Day” this year was held on 18th August at the Mid Suffolk Light Railway, Brockford Station, Wetheringsett, on one of their steam days. The weather was rather mixed with a heavy rain shower in the morning but there were plenty of visitors, modellers and families alike. We would like to thank the railway for hosting us and Great Eastern Models for bringing their sales stand and hope it was to everyone’s benefit. Here are a few photos of the exhibits at the event:
A special guest 009 scale layout was “Castle Quay” by Chris O’Donoghue, modelled in his unique style, full of detail.
Philip Moore ran “Hawkins Tower” (009), a small continuous run around a park once popular in Victorian times, showing a Minitrains Ns2f diesel.
A first exhibition showing for Graham & Caroline Watling’s 009 layout “Shortwaite Hill”. This is a photo of Shortwaite Station on the upper level with Bagnall saddle tank ready to leave.
A view from the end of a siding on Bill Knight’s “Little Ease” in 1:16 scale, a shunting puzzle. As usual, superbly modelled.
A passenger train hauled by an Andrew Barclay inspired Fourdees loco runs through the loop at “Shipmeadow” (009) by Richard Doe.
Another shunting puzzle is Chris Seago’s 009 “Priory Waterworks”, built for the 2016 Expo Narrow Gauge Challenge. This view shows the excellent arrangement of the buildings around the end of the sidings with some of Chris’s varied wagons.
The Gn15 scale “Norfolk & Suffolk Estate Railway” was an under construction exhibit by Stuart Hughes.
A view across “Old Chapel Yard” (009) by Jim Bamber, a maintenance yard on the edge of a small town.
Modelling demonstration by Alan Fuller, showing many scales and modelling materials.
The running shed at “Longstone Park” (Gn15), with battery loco, owned by Martin Edwards.
