August 2019 Meeting

Nine members met on a warm summer evening on 5th August at Barsham. As usual, several models were displayed, this time in a large range of scales. We also made final plans for our Running Day at the Mid-Suffolk Railway on August 18th.

Martins “Longstone Park” layout was displayed showing new Heywood stock: a large top wagon and brake van.
The biggest (largest scale) item on display was Barry’s recent second hand purchase a scratch built industrial diesel in 1:12 scale (7.25″ gauge), it runs on a Hornby 0-4-0 chassis. He bought it along with some collectable figures including Dr.Who and Daleks.
Smaller, and a new scale to the Group are these 5.5mm scale wagon kit by 55th Studios, under construction by Stuart Hughes.
Displayed by Richard Doe was this 009 purchase from the Mansfield Open Day, a Chivers Finelines RC24 Hudson Hunslet kit running on a Grafar motor bogie.
Graham Watling displayed this Shapeways Tebee 3d print purchase, an 09 scale tank loco (yet to be named) running on a Kato 103 and also some Unit Models wagons.
Martin is scratch building a Sumatran rail car running on a Bachmann Trolley hauling it’s customary wagon with three oil drums on board.
Alan was making lobster traps for his fish quay shunting layout in SM32 scale.
One of Barry’s 009 purchases, a Glyn Valley tram loco running on a Grafar chassis.
